A wide range of transportation planning, programming, and project assistance services are provided for our member communities.
INRCOG is the designated metropolitan planning organization (MPO) for the Black Hawk County Metropolitan Area and provides staffing and support for the Iowa Northland Regional Transportation Authority (INRTA). These entities focus on transportation-related issues in their respective areas while also working together to improve the transportation opportunities of the region.
Long Range Planning identifies transportation improvements that will ensure the viability of the area for the next 20 years across relevant modes of transportation including highway, rail, air, non-motorized, and freight. In the Black Hawk County metropolitan area, this information is included in the 2050 Black Hawk County MPO Long Range Transportation Plan. In the region, the state of transportation infrastructure across all modes, and a course of action for maintenance and improvement of each mode based on anticipated needs and revenues is detailed in the 2050 INRTA Long Range Transportation Plan.
Data and Modeling. INRCOG is responsible for travel demand modelling for the Black Hawk County MPO, and can provide additional data for corridor studies and other scenarios including future traffic estimates, population and employment projections, and select link analysis
To ensure that decisions relating to implementation of transportation improvements are based on current information and a sound planning process, we have established a solid working relationship with local, state and federal representatives.
