INRCOG supports the reduction of solid waste and promotes landfill diversion, recycling, and reuse. We can help your community identify grant programs to aid in reducing and diverting waste in your community.
Iowa Waste Exchange
In partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Waste Exchange (IWE) is one of the nation’s premiere materials exchange programs. This no-cost, non-regulatory, confidential service matches institutions that produce byproducts with other groups interested in using or recycling those materials. The program assists clients in saving disposal and raw material costs while subsequently enhancing our natural resources through reducing, reusing, recycling, and renewing materials.
INRCOG’s Environmental Resource Specialist serves as the Iowa Waste Exchange Area 3 Resource Specialist.
Regional Solid Waste Comprehensive Plan
The INRCOG Comprehensive Solid Waste Management Plan ensures that the communities and counties in the INRCOG Solid Waste planning area properly plan how they reduce, recycle, and dispose of waste, while keeping the system coordinated, efficient, and compliant with state waste-reduction requirements. INRCOG coordinates the development of the Plan which identifies waste stream components, sets waste reduction goals, and evaluates waste management practices.
